A Little Fish Story

On a recent fishing excursion with a long-time fishing partner, we discovered the following recipe. We learned a great deal from the experience, and I hope that our sharing it with you will help you avoid our mistakes.

How to Fry Minnows

Take a fishing trip where you have to rent a boat, the smaller the better. A very light unstable craft is what you are looking for. Light wood would be ideal.

Add the heaviest 12-volt battery ever made that you are now trying to wrestle into this unstable, rocking wooden boat.

Garnish with a trolling motor that has an unusable knuckle-busting mounting bracket.

Now make sure you run the cable from the trolling motor battery under the little metal hinge on the swivel seat with the folding back.

Next, sit back on the swivel seat and make sure the metal hinge cuts the trolling motor cable and shorts out…resulting in a battery fire right next to the 6-gallon gas tank.

Let the fire go unnoticed for about 30 seconds, long enough for it to get a good hold on the wood. Your buddy will scream when the time is right for action.

Grab the minnow bucket that is sitting on the dock and generously add water to the mix; the minnows will follow right along with the water.

Watch your recipe simmer, hiss and then flame out. Notice the sulfuric fish odor of completion.

Unhook the cables from the battery and you are finished.

The minnows should be medium rare, just perfect for presenting to the most finicky crappie.
